Grounding & Bonding
Grounding and bonding hardware creates a low-impedance path from equipment frames and rack rails back to a single ground reference point, so fault current has a defined route instead of an unpredictable one. Every metal component in a rack that could become energized needs a bonded path to ground. The hardware ranges from a busbar that terminates dozens of ground wires to a single lug on one cable.
What we supply
Rack busbars
A horizontal or vertical bar mounted in the rack that terminates multiple ground conductors at a common point, giving every piece of equipment in the rack a single, verifiable path to the room's ground system.
Specify by: length, hole count, mounting orientation, conductor material.
Ground jumpers and straps
Pre-terminated cable or braided strap that bonds two points directly, such as a rack rail to a busbar or a door to a frame across a hinge.
Specify by: length, conductor gauge, termination type at each end.
Lugs and connectors
Compression and mechanical lugs that terminate a ground conductor to a lug hole, sized to the wire gauge and hole diameter they connect.
Specify by: wire gauge range, hole size, compression or set-screw, material.
Bonding hardware kits
Paint-piercing washers, star washers, and bonding screws packaged for a specific bonding task, such as securing a rail to a frame through painted metal without a separate surface prep step.
Specify by: screw size, washer type, quantity per kit, thread.
Ground bars and brackets
Wall-mount and rack-mount bars that serve as a room-level or row-level aggregation point before the run back to the building's main ground.
Specify by: hole count, mounting type, bar length, material.
Specifying grounding and bonding
Conductor size is set by the fault current the path needs to carry and the length of the run, not by convenience. A longer run needs a heavier gauge to hold the same impedance as a shorter one.
Paint-piercing hardware bites through painted or anodized metal to reach bare conductor beneath, which is faster than surface prep but only rated for specific coating thicknesses. Prepared surface bonding removes the coating first and gives a more reliable contact on thicker or harder finishes.
Single-point ground topology means every rack and rail bonds back to one reference point rather than to each other in a chain. A chained, or daisy-chained, ground path creates multiple routes for current and makes fault behavior harder to predict.
